Here at DCMFitness we offer a selection of massage and soft tissue therapy. If you are just looking for a massage for much needed stress relief or to ease any pains from a niggling injury our Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist Dave Mason has got this covered for you.
Soft Tissue Therapy (STT)Soft tissue therapy is a form of treatment which combines traditional therapeutic and sports massage techniques with soft tissue release, deep tissue massage, trigger point work and lymphatic drainage.
While having treatment the soft tissues (muscles, fascia, ligaments, tendons, skin) are manipulated with the main aim of correcting any soft tissue imbalances that are often caused from repetitive movements, physical activity, sitting positions and posture and traumas. Sports MassageSports massage is not just for people who play sports or exercise. It can be used by anybody who has an injury, chronic muscular pain, tightness and inflexibility in your muscles. The massage treatment aims to stretch and release tight muscles and stimulates inactive muscles.
The difference with sports massage is the main focus on recovery from training and the early identification and treatment of potential soft tissue conditions. The treatment also helps improve the body posture, flexibility to the muscles, aid and speed the recovery process of the body and prevent injury. Remedial MAssageThe majority of general aches and pains that are caused by lifestyle stresses are minor soft tissue conditions. These may recover naturally over time; though this is often not the case and they can develop into more serious and complex issues. Remedial massage has proved over the years to be a fast and effective way of dealing with these minor soft tissue conditions by helping the body's own natural repair processes.
Remedial 'massage' includes techniques that have developed from traditional massage and included some from other therapy disciplines. They are used to help release tight muscles and to stimulate repair. These techniques are combined with massage to provide the most effective treatment possible and these include: Soft Tissue Release (STR) - A mechanical lock and stretch technique to stretch and 'unstick' congested muscle tissue Muscle Energy Technique (MET) - Stimulation of the nervous system, enabling muscles to be stretched and to encourage inactive muscles. Neuromuscular Technique (NMT) - Using the nervous system to eradicate pain and tension. Trigger points can also be deactivated using this technique |
